Day 9 J.O.Y Club English Class

Hi Friends and Family

We are always looking for opportunities to bring kids to Evergreen Chapel. Today Jean played basketball with some children in the neighborhood in front of the church and invited them to the upcoming American Christmas Party scheduled for this coming Sunday. Way to go Jean :)

The team also had a ministry opportunity and prepared an appreciation dinner for Uchimura Sensei's family and Kyoko Hinokawa's family. Our team is very blessed with cooking and baking talents and were able to put together a yummy dinner for these families to show them the love of Jesus.

In the evening, the team assisted Joy with her Advanced 2 English J.O.Y Club Class. We had three more  junior high students come today - Kosuzu, Hannah, and Kyo :) Two of the three children (Kyo and Kosuzu) have already accepted Christ as their Savior. Continue to pray for Joy as she works tirelessly to touch the lives of all these children and help bring them to know Jesus.

We always start off with an ice breaker. We play "can you use chopsticks?" We practice asking questions in English while picking up tricky items with chopsticks.

The students completed a dish towel craft - stenciling Christmas shapes onto a towel using the art of "pointillism".

A fun way to learn English - "how does this taste?" The kids learn how to describe how food tastes by eating Jellybean Boozers. Two jellybeans that look exactly the same, but have two very different tastes. The kids seemed to enjoy the game :)

Strawberry Banana Smoothie or Dead Fish
"it's terrible"

Chocolate Pudding or Canned Dog Food
"it's disgusting!"

 Juicy Pear or Booger
"it tastes good"

Tutti Frutti or Stinky Socks
"it's awful"

The kids also had a special challenge where if they choose to try a special snack (dried crickets) from Thailand, they would receive American candy. All three students were willing to participate in the challenge ;)

The students enjoyed hot chocolate and apple cider. Children in Japan really enjoy foods from America. Cheers!

Bible time is so special. Tracy shares her testimony in English, while Michael translates in Japanese. This is especially impactful since the children can relate, as Tracy was brought up in a Buddhist household, but still decided to dedicate her life to Jesus and become a Christian.

Your love and support mean so much to Joy! Please continue to pray for the children of Japan and their families!

In Him,
Machida Japan Team 2017
